Swans's Picture Hangers

French Gallery Rods for Fall and All Victorian Decorating

Visit Swan's Picture Hangers

Versatile and elegant, this hanger allows you to hang one picture above another, and they work equally well in both traditional and contemporary settings. These precision made, solid brass rods are a great way to easily hang and arrange pictures on any wall. The adjustable hooks can simply be moved up and down the rod to accommodate multiple pictures and varying heights. Weight Limits: We recommend not less than 3 pounds or more than 35 pounds. If heavier, you can use two rods. Great fall prices!

We recently visited the Molly Brown House and Museum in Denver, Colorado. The tour director gave an historic insight concerning picture rail moldings and gallery rods. Basically, there were two practical reasons to use this method of picture display. First, many of the walls of Victorian houses were made of plaster which is not easy to pound nails into without cracking or chipping. Secondly, the popular floral wallpapers used during the Victorian era were quite costly and less damage was done to them using moldings and display rods.

"For that historic 19th Century look, we also sell picture rail molding in 8 foot lengths for easy installation in a room that never had any or to replace molding that has been removed by some thoughtless person."
